Lew Jetton, KY Blues member from Paducah, KY, went to Helena, Arkansas representing our state, and brought us back this fine report of all the great blues happenings. Enjoy.

2006 Arkansas Heritage and Blues Festival
Everyone had a wonderful time at the 2006 Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival!  The weather was perfect and the Blues flowed like fine wine from the levee on the Mighty Mississippi River.  No doubt, the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival is among, if not THE finest Blues festival in the world.  If you want the best, you have to go to the source, and Helena, in the heart of the Delta, is indeed IT!!!  This one was my 8th, and already, I can't wait til next year!!

2006 International Blues Challenge winner Joey Gilmore

Eric "Scrappy" Hughes Band, from Memphis

One of my all-time favorites, Richard Johnston!  Maybe the best "one man band" in Blues today!

Another one man wonder, Bill Abel

On the Emerging Artist Stage, Melissa Siegler, from Nashville

Perfect weather and great, blues-loving crowds!!!

Sweet Betty on the Main Stage

Waymon Meeks, on the Acoustic Stage

Just one of the street performers on Cherry Street, great shows there too!

We wandered into one of the Courtyards and were treated to Cheryl Arena, one of the best female harp players in the world!

Chris Cotton is a heckuva player and has a way with a song, for sure!

We always love the great Sam Carr and the Delta Jukes with Dave Riley!  Another great show on the Main Stage.

Beale Street Caravan founder Sid Selvidge on the Acoustic Stage.  Great stories, great songs!

The Paul Delay Band, on the Main Stage

One of my favorites, one of the last of the great Mississippi Hill Country guitarist/singers, the great Robert Belfour

Chicago Blues at it's finest, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials from Chicago, on the Main Stage.

There were so many great acts it was hard to keep up with them all.  We found ourselves running from stage to stage to stage, not wanting to miss a thing.  If you love the Blues.....you belong at the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival.  Once you go, you'll be hooked, and like us, it'll turn into an annual Family Reunion of Blues Lovers!!
